LEGAZPI CITY – With three kilometers of white-sand beach almost free of sharp coral grits, Gubat Bay in Sorsogon offers water sports thrills that go beyond the joys of swimming in a blue ocean.
The bay, 620 kilometers south of Manila and 63 km from Legazpi City’s airport in Albay, faces the San Juanico Strait on the southeastern edge of the Bicol Peninsula. It has been attracting fun-loving people since early this year when they introduced skim boarding and water surfing.

im sure there are a lot of undiscovered spots out there, something every surfer would wish for - an uncrowded lineup, good waves (but i would settle for fun waves for now. ), comfort food, and a cold bottle of beer.
i remember one night after a surf trip, my friend neil who spent most of his childhood days in matnog, sorsogon exclaimed that if you are looking for waves there are plenty in sorsgon. and plenty it is. as reported in the article, gubat bay is just probably one of the many undiscovered surfing paradise in the country.
more than the stoke it would bring to the surfers and water enthusiats, the discovery of a spot translates to potential investment in tourism, more jobs to the locals and generally increase in economic activity that would redound to benefit everyone.
actually, neil has this idea in his head of putting up a small surf shop and a surf school in his area. i wish you luck friend. im sure that is feasible and possible. work on it and when it’s there, i will ask you to adopt me for a week or two so i can polish on my surfing skills.

my birthday is in two months and i want a laptop. i won’t be choosy promise. i will even settle for this one. it’s neo basic 2165. i’ve been searching the net and comparing prices of different brands and this one is the cheapest.
do you know why i want a laptop? hehe. i want to design clothes – some surfing and skating, beach inspired tees. everything is all in my head right now. tsk. someday. one of these days . . .

my dad promised to buy me laptop but he’s not due home until december. a few weeks after he left, he was so excited when he told me he’ll buy me one. what if i buy one now and ask him to pay me in cash instead? oh i think not. i don’t want to spoil his fun. it will be the first big material gift he would give me. and i think he’s looking forward to it.

‘Frank’ leaves 2 mountaineers dead in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES – Two members of a mountaineering club in Quezon City died after a strong current swept them while their group was crossing a creek in Barangay Pundaquit in San Antonio town on Sunday.
One of their companions was reported missing while nine others were rescued. They belonged to the AMCI Mountaineers Club based in Metro Manila, police said.
The bodies of Joseph Felarca and Jhoan Pimentel were recovered on Sunday and Monday, according to Zambales police director Senior Supt. Rolando Felix.
Search was ongoing on Monday for Thaddeus Reantaso, he said.
Erwell Tabernas, Pundaquit barangay captain, said the group went to the Annawangin beach south of the village but they encountered swollen creeks on their way back to the town proper at 12:30 p.m. Typhoon “Frank” was crossing Zambales at that time, carrying strong rains and winds.

tragic and scary and creepy. this is the same spot where we surf. grabe.
creepy because the next time i paddle out there i will be thinking of these people what happened to them whether they will stay there and haunt the shores forever. sounds crazy i know but that is creepy defined for me. but most of all im just scared. i haven’t entirely flushed out my fear of deep water from my system and suddenly i hear a news like this.
to the families of the typhoon victim, my deepest condolences and sympathies.
to all the outdoor and water enthusiasts out there, stay safe always.

nakakairita na makipagusap sa mga taong sadyang hindi makaintindi. nakakapagtaka lang bakit ba napakastupido ng ilan at hindi talaga nila ma-absorb at mai-process sa mga kokote nila ang mga kasimple-simplehang bagay. ang totoo niyan para mai-describe kong mabuti kung gaano kakitid ang utak ng mga taong ito ganito iyon: alam niyo ba na mas mataas pa ang intellectual level ng aso ko sa kanila.
napagod na ako sa inyo. nasagad na ang pasensiya ko. ako (kami) na nga lang ang (mga) tanging taong kasundo ninyo at inabuso niyo pa ang kabaitan ko (namin). huwag kayong masyadong mayabang dahil wala naman kayong karapatang magyabang at wala rin kayong ipagyayabang. malakas ang loob niyo kapag nakikipag-away kayo dahil pinababayaan kayo ng mga tao, pero pasensyahan na lang dahil papatulan ko talaga kayo dahil kailangan ninyong matutuo. lumugar kayo ng tama.

i just noticed this morning that i have leveled up my status at the philippines surf forum. gold member na ako. sa dalawang taong laging nagbabasa ng blog ko, naalala niyo ba yung mga kuwentuhan natin tungkol sa pagiging isang gold member. haha. i was just reminded of those days. nung masaya lang tayo, laging nagtatawanan at nagkukulitan. pero ngayon biglang may kanya-kanya tayong maliit at maligalig na mundo, andiyan ang law school sa iba at ang bagong trabaho at sa akin naman ganun pa rin may pagkabusy at pagkaloka-loka pa rin. namimiss ko na kayo. senti. haha.

surfed crystal saturday afternoon. waves were good. sunday morning we headed out to pundaquit. magic left was flat so we decided to check out anawangin.
anwangin was friendly too when we got there. some three to four-foot waves and getting bigger by the hour. it was an empty line-up at first, just us four and two locals, wilson and balong. had to psych myself up before i got off the boat. im scared of the reef and my fear of deep water kept creeping back in. and its anawangin for crap’s sake. i’ve heard my share of horror stories in this spot.
well, what the heck. claire and i paddled out into the line up and scored a few rides. after an hour, we finally had company. four more surfers joined us in the lineup. it was fun and ok for a few minutes until one of us got hit by the other surfer’s fin. the cut was pretty deep we had to go back and take him to the er for stitches. and all he got from that other surfer was a lame “sorry.”
i also had my share of drama. i spent a considerable amount of time puking my guts out after i paddled back to the boat. i had a severe attack of headache and i just really need to throw everything up. sorry guys. hehe. and a reef cut too, what a souvenir from anawangin. well at least, another spot conquered. kahit maliit lang ang swell sa anawangin non. i’m posting the picture. i know its gross but it’s my page. so bear with me.

sana gabi na para sine die na. bakasyon na. yey. ang problem ako lang my technical working group meeting pa ako sa biyernes. sana bukas na lang ‘yon para diretso na ang bakasyon. overachiever kasi ang boss-boss-an namin sa group kaya kelangan magbanat din ng buto.
share ko lang: last time may nakita akong jacket sa sm dept store na napapalibutan ng love, peace print. as in exxag talaga sa print pero nagustuhan ko siya. kaso lang hindi pa ko masyado decided na bibilhin ko na nung araw na ‘yon so sabi ko sa mga kaibigan ko “babalikan ko na lang next wee, siguro naman andiyan pa yan.” but noh, maling akala. pagbalik ko sabi ng sales lady, “maam, sold out na po.” tragic. at dahil nag-iinarte ako at naghahanap ng pagkakagastusan, maghahanap pa ako sa ibang department store or sabi nga ng kaibigan ko baka may mahanap ka pa ng ibang mas maganda. sana. 
at andami ko pang gustong bilhin. sana madami akong pera. wahaha. dahil splurge mode, may nabili din akong kickass o’neil na boardshirts. sana mabinyagan na. at bukas pagkakuha ng sweldo ko babalikan ko yung roxy boardies. :-)

sinamahan ko ang aking mga kapatid sa dentista ngayong araw. ako ang pinasama ng nanay ko dahil alam niya na takot sa akin ang mga kapatid ko at mapapasunod ko sila sa iuutos ng dentista. alam kasi ng nanay ko na magiging pasaway sila lalo na at gusto niyang ipabunot sana ang maya’t mayang inirereklamong ngipin ng dalawa kong kapatid. hindi kasi sila masunurin kapag nanay ko ang kasama.
ang plano nila, ipapa-pasta lang ang mga sirang ngipin bago magpasukan para hindi na sila maabala kapag nagumpisa na ang klase. pero sinabihan ko sila na magpapabunot na rin sila dahil wala ng mahaba-habang bakasyon na parating. siyempre, hindi nila ako sineryoso. akala nila nagbibiro lang ako.
pagdating sa clinic ni doc, nauna ako para magpapalit ng rubber ng aking braces. mabilis lang wala man atang three minutes. sabi pa niya wala na tayong gagawin sa ngipin mo. pinaglalaruan na lang nga namin kunwaring papalit-palit ng kulay ng goma para lang may magawa tuwing bumibisita ako sa kanya.
sumunod ang kapatid kong si jessica, check-up ng ngipin. may mangilan-ngilang kailangan i-pasta pero kailangang unahin muna yung ngipin niya sa may harapan. pero malas lang niya dahil kailangan ng root canal sabi ni doc medyo malalim na kasi ang sira. at malas ko rin dahil ako ang gagastos sa pagpapa-x-ray at root canal niya. tsk. at para hindi na matuloy ang pagkasira ng isa pa niyang ngipin at hindi na manghawa ng iba, humingi ng permiso si doc na bunutin ang isa sa kanyang lower right molar. note: sa akin humingi ng permiso, hindi sa kapatid ko. bigla na lang nangilid ang luha sa mga mata ng kapatid ko nang sumagot ako ng “oo doc, sige bunutin na natin.” kelangan kong palakasin ang loob niya habang paulit-ulit niyang binubulong ang “ate, ayaw ko.” e ganun din naman kasi ang patutunguhan, ituloy na natin para matapos na. nakapikit siya habang tinuturok ang anesthesia at pagkatapos ng isang minuto, oo tama one minute, tapos na. hindi rin niya namalayan na tapos na at mayabang niyang sinabi na, “ay ganon lang pala.”
sa kabilang cubicle, nagpapa-pasta naman ang isa ko pang kapatid na si vannie. sabi ni doctora (si doctora ay asawa ni doc, share ko lang at mababait sila) kailangan din daw bunutin na yung sira niyang ngipin. mas pasaway ang kapatid kong ‘to. matapos ang pasta session niya, tumayo agad sa upuan at sinabing hindi daw siya magpapabunot ng ngipin sa susunod na lang daw. hay ang tigas ng ulo, nagtantrums pa talaga. wa poise para sa isang kinse anyos parang batang paslit na pinipilit. para mapaupo ulit siya kelangan kong isakripisyo ang limang daan at nag-pasta pa ng isang sirang ngipin. chos. after 100 years, napilit din naming siya na magpabunot. natawa lang din siya dahil na-realize niya na hindi din naman pala masakit. ang dami pa kasing arte.
kasama din naming ang bunso kong kapatid na si anne, nagpa-check up lang siya. kailangan niyang magpa-cleaning at pasta din pero sa susunod na lang siya. naubos na kasi ang dala kong pera.
nyaha! hindi ko ma-imagine na napahaba ko ng ganito ang post na ‘to. hay, ang hirap maging isang mabait na ina kapatid. ang sakit sa bulsa nang magpa-dentista.
