update on the 50mm prime March 16, 2009

the 50mm prime provides tack sharp photos and a very nice bokeh/depth of field (that blurred background for photos to make your subject stand out).  however, it does not autofocus on the d40 so i’m currently getting the hang of manually focusing. it’s hard right now but i’m hoping it would get easier with practice.

so i was doing some practice shots last weekend while my dogs were romping ang playing in the terrace. i didn’t mind them since the gate was locked and so i proceeded to take shots. did i mention my dogs are smart? well, they are!  spot, our half dachshund and pinscher fur clown, has been opening the gate at whim whenever no one is looking. since i was very busy with the camera, spot decided to open the gate and both dogs decided to make a break for it.

as i was chasing them, my newly acquired lens banged on the gate. thank god nothing serious happened to it, just a smudge of paint plastered on the side of the lens filter.

these are the two little devils who almost destroyed my new toy. innocent and sweet eh? they also gouged one of our sofa sets open. :-)

spot and nikki
